1807 Capped Bust Left Half Eagle -- NGC MS63
Pop 19 with 19 finer. Both sides of this fresh early half eagle are frosty and brilliant with bright yellow surfaces. This is the first year of the new style of half eagle designed by the talented Mint Engraver John Reich. 1807 is the transition year from the "bust right" to "bust left" for the half-eagle series, and many would argue that the latter type, represented here, is the more attractive between the two. What really cannot be argued is the appeal of this butter-gold example as the striking detail and unexpectedly vibrant luster combine to deliver a type coin of alluring charm. NGC Price Guide...$26,500.
