This specimen is quite nice, especially for the grade, with satiny soft luster and plenty. It's well struck and the stars are generally sharp and you will find plenty mint luster in the protected areas. It's really a pleasing example of this rare variety. The mintage of the overdate is unknown as it was included in Mint reports among the total for 1808, which was 55,578 coins. Most "transition year" overdates (those made from dies left over from the previous year but having one digit modified, a cost-saving move on the Mint's part, back in 1808) are generally quite scarce because only one such die was typically used, until it wore out. CDN Collectors Price Guide....$15,600.
